DialoQ Talk Communication Software

DialoQ Talk is a symbol- and text-based communication software for Android and Windows devices, designed to assist individuals with language disabilities, such as aphasia, stroke, cerebral palsy, ALS, or other conditions affecting speech and communication, to communicate easily and effectively.

At the heart of the latest version are the AI-powered SmartContext™ and SmartGrammar™ technologies that take communication to a whole new level. SmartContext™ makes text communication faster and more natural by understanding the context of the conversation and predicting words accordingly. SmartGrammar™ automatically conjugates words correctly, making symbol-based communication smoother and more precise.

DialoQ Talk combines intelligence, ease of use, and fluent expression – an advanced communication tool that adapts to the user, not the other way around.

Intuitive and Accessible Design

DialoQ Talk features a user-friendly interface that is easy to navigate. Editing can be done directly within the app, eliminating the need for a keyboard and mouse. For end-users, DialoQ Talk provides unique features like camera, microphone, drawing (whiteboard), and quick messaging capabilities, all which can be accessed independently without external assistance, making it easy to create personalized content.

The Android version of DialoQ Talk can also be installed in kiosk mode, locking the device for communication use only.

SmartGrammar™ – Intelligent Word Forming

DialoQ Talk features AI-powered SmartGrammar™, which automatically adjusts word forms, minimizing the need for multiple buttons with the same symbol on a single communication page.

When the user input ‘I’ + ‘be’ + ‘<past>’ + ‘eat’ + ‘hamburger’, the Smart Grammar generates the grammatically correct sentence ‘I was eating a hamburger’.

Smart Grammar is available in English, Finnish, Swedish, Dutch, German, Estonian and Croatian, with more languages currently in development.

SmartContext™ – Context-Aware Communication

SmartContext™ is our AI-powered technology that makes text communication faster, smoother, and more natural. It predicts words based on the ongoing conversation, the user’s communication history, and the current context. This helps users express themselves with fewer selections, reducing effort and speeding up interaction — especially in dynamic, real-life situations.

Unlike many other AI-based solutions, SmartContext™ works entirely offline. All processing happens securely on the user’s own device — no internet connection or cloud data transfer is required. This ensures complete privacy and data security, keeping all personal information and communication history safe.

SmartContext™ is available in multiple languages, including English, German, Dutch, Italian, Swedish, Finnish, Croatian, Spanish, French, and Danish — enabling context-aware word prediction for a wide range of users across different languages. More languages will be added soon.

Advanced Multilingual Support

DialoQ Talk offers advanced multilingual support, allowing seamless use of content in multiple languages. When switching between multilingual materials, the speech voice, SmartContext™, and SmartGrammar™ automatically switch to the correct language. This makes creating and using multilingual content effortless and intuitive.

Symbol Libraries 

The software includes various symbol libraries, such as Bliss, Mulberry, and DialoQ. Additional libraries, like Widgit Symbols, METACOM and SelkoSeks, can be purchased separately.

Versatile Editing Features

DialoQ Talk offers powerful editing tools, allowing users to add multiple images—such as photos or symbols—to a single button. Images can be layered, freely rotated, and scaled for full customization, enabling truly personalized communication materials.

In DialoQ Talk, you can attach photos, audio recordings and various actions to each button. Text fields can be freely positioned and styled with different fonts and colours, allowing fully custom layouts. 

Communication boards can include both grid-based pages and free-form pages, and you can also create Visual Scene Display (VSD) pages with interactive hotspots that play audio or trigger other actions.

Flexible Access Methods

DialoQ Talk can be used in various ways to suit different users’ needs. It supports direct use via touch screen, scanning with switches, assistive mice such as the Quha Zono, and eye control — enabling fully personalised and accessible communication.

Eye tracker support

DialoQ Talk supports several eye-tracking devices, including Eyetech EyeOn (Windows and Android), Alea Cam30NT and Cam30NXT (Windows), and eyeV Skyle (Windows and Android). Additionally, the software can be used with any mouse assistant, such as Quha Zono’s head mouse.

The player mode in DialoQ Talk features a “magnet selection” function, making it easier to select small buttons using eye-tracking. Users can also launch applications or web pages directly from the Talk board or seamlessly switch to desktop use.

Environmental Control

Users can also use their communication boards to control various home devices, such as lights, televisions, or beds, through environment control. DialoQ Talk supports systems like Eldat, Qinera, and HouseMate, all available for both Android and Windows.
